Start with safe checks

Confirm the aid is powered on and the battery or charger is working. Check that the correct device is in the correct ear, then look for visible debris on the dome, earmold, or sound outlet. A blocked wax guard can make sound very quiet.

Use only the tools and instructions supplied for your model. Liquids, sharp objects, and attempts to open the casing can cause more damage. If the problem began after a phone update, check the device connection separately from its basic sound output.

When to request service

Book help if cleaning and power checks do not restore sound, the casing is cracked, the receiver wire is damaged, the charger fails repeatedly, or the aid causes discomfort. Bring the hearing aids, charger, accessories, and model information so the clinic can identify the issue.

Ask whether the problem can be addressed in the clinic, whether manufacturer service is required, how long it may take, and what warranty applies. Turnaround depends on the model and fault.

Prevent repeat problems

Daily dry wiping, correct storage, and replacing user-serviceable parts as directed help maintain function. Keep the aids away from high heat and moisture unless the manufacturer says otherwise. Regular follow-up also catches fit and sound changes that may seem like a device fault.
